4 Inch Fosters Traction Engine

This fantastic engine is larger than what we usually deal with. Built to a high standard with castings and boiler produced by Live Steam Models. This one has been put together with great attention to detail by a talented engineer and is certainly an eye-catching model.

It seems to have led a bit of a charmed life, never really doing much work, just pottering about the previous owners garden, being too large to make it past the gate. As such it is in fantastic condition both aesthetically and mechanically. It has seen such a small amount of use that there are still machining marks in the trunk guide and paint on the gear teeth! Runs nicely in both forward and reverse and moves nicely through the gears with high and low speed. It has been test run on air and driven about the Maxitrak car park.

Fitted with a steel boiler produced and certified by LSM. The engine is fitted with a mechanical lubricator, injector and crankshaft pump. Removable seat mounted on the towbar.

Although this is a steamable model there are some areas that are incomplete. There is no gear cover or cylinder lagging sheet. The rear wheels will also need riveting as they are currently bolted. Once this has been done the brake system can be finished. Hubcaps have been made but not fitted and are included in this listing along with a selection of other castings and accessories.

Overall this is a lovely model with some real pulling power, ideal for rallying.
