1 Inch Scale Maxitrak Burrell
This version shows to good effect the style of the typical British agricultural traction engine with spoked flywheel, brass topped chimney, open crank and wheels with rubber tyres. These engines where used for threshing, sawing and general farm work.
Because of the relatively high initial cost of agricultural engines, many smaller farmers could not afford to buy their own, useful though they were. It was not uncommon therefore, for farmers to engage the services of a local contracting gang who would, in the summer months, set about the annual tasks of threshing, bailing, sawing etc and come autumn - ploughing the fields, ready for the next season's crop!
